Oded Distel
CEO of Tal-Ya
Following a substantial career of 24 years in leading positions in the governmental sector , Oded Distel became the CEO of Tal-Ya in July 2019. Oded is a leading expert on Israel’s water and energy sectors. In 2007 he founded and was the director of Israel NewTech , a pioneering national program led by the Ministry of Economy and Industry whose goal is to find smart solutions to global challenges by promoting academic research, local market implementation, and international exposure of Israeli companies. In the first 5 years, the program helped take Israel water technology from $600 Million to $2 Billion. It is a clear case of how positive government involvement can propel the clean-tech sector and has served as a model implemented by several countries in Europe and the rest of the world.
Thanks to this background, Oded has a solid relationships with organizations such as The World Bank. European Bank of Reconstraction and Development (EBRD), Water Resources Group (WRG) and many more.
In 2015, Oded made the list of the 100 Most Influential People in the Israeli Hi-tech Arena , of the prestigious Geek Time website.
Previously, Oded was the Director of the Investment Promotion Centre (IPC) Invest in Israel , following a tenure as Commercial Attaché in Athens, Greece, where he helped Israeli companies enter the Greek Market. Oded holds a B.A. in business Administration and an M.B.A. from the Tel Aviv University.
His extensive experience, strategic thinking, commercial knowledge and understanding of the agriculture industry, make Oded the right person to lead Tal-Ya into a bright future.
